We thanked our lucky stars the day that Chris, Julia, Daisy and Grace visited their Florida home next door to ours in Gulf Stream, Florida. The first time we met Team Mellor we knew we were in for a long friendship. Julia was bubbly and bright and the girls precious and precocious. Our lives improved with every visit. In the center of these beautiful ladies (in every way) was sweet, kind, calm Chris. His demeanor was mild but his eyes danced wildly with every word and every action by any one of his girls. We have not yet met Faye, Katie, or Alison or their families, but that dance continued with each story he’d tell of them. He dearly loved his family. With his kind spirit came a keen mind. Chris and my husband, George, would often talk sports, politics, and history with ease and fluidity. Chris told us about Rory McIlroy long before the name even came on the U.S. radar. Politically and historically Chris could see all sides of a story or event but would not hesitate to state his opinion of the facts with a clear and thoughtful rationale. There were many fun times with Chris and the Mellor clan but one of my fondest memories will always be the simple times spent on the front porch just watching the rain fall. We will long be crushed at the loss of our dear friend but know we are all the better for knowing him. A piece of him lives on in all of us but especially his family who knew him so well and loved him so much. Our love, thoughts, and prayers reach out to you all. Karen & George Mathews
