I was very saddened to learn of Chris' passing. Although I hadn't seen Chris for several years I still have vivid and very pleasant memories of working with him at Anglian Water. Chris and I first worked together in the 1980s as part of a four member team preparing for privatisation in a very productive and free-thinking environment. We were officially called the Special Projects Team, which gave nothing away, but as we reported to Freddie Wild the Authority's solicitor we inevitably became "Freddie and the Dreamers". Later we shared very different duties when Bernard Henderson was looking for a weekend crew for his narrow boat on the Great Ouse waterways and that too was time spent with Chris that I enjoyed. Chris and I got on really well together and continued to do so for the rest of my time at Anglian Water. I had great respect for his professionalism, his clear thinking and his quiet manner.
