I was so saddened to hear of Chris’s death. Chris was one solid rock to our Monitor team when I was one of them and his exceptional qualities were undoubtedly one of our great strengths. As Senior NED he played a special role in various initiatives and was always a tower of strength and calm to Bill and the rest of us. His kindness and fairness governed his firmness and made him such a joy to work with. I know that his frequent references to Julia and the girls, family times in Florida and his home in Essex, all these were the core of his life. One wants of course to shout ‘UNFAIR’, when such a vigorous and apparently youthful man is struck down when yet young. I hope the family will take comfort from knowing how much his life and gifts were appreciated by all his many colleagues. The Baroness Murphy (Elaine Murphy)
