A precious man has been untimely taken from our lives. I had the privilege of Chris being a colleague and friend from the time I came to Anglian Water in 1996. it was a thrill to see Chris step up to the CEO position when Alan retired and steer the company through a big cultural and formative stage with wisdom, openness and sensitivity. He always gave time to people, encouraging and being willing to listen and understand their point of view. He was open to new ideas and, typically, thought deeply and considerately, despite how 'off the wall' the ideas might be, always achieving an engaging and positive outcome. Even after I had left AW Chris was always willing to advise and support as he did when he was Deputy Chairman of Monitor and I was involved in managing NHS Trusts. The world is emptier without Chris, but we can hold his precious memory in our hearts. Florence and I extend our love and prayers to Julia and the girls, and the wider family at this sad time.
